Harron Homes Yorkshire has partnered with Candlelighters as its Charity of the Year for 2026, supporting the vital work the charity does for children with cancer and their families. Candlelighters was formed in 1976 to provide care for children with cancer in Yorkshire. Over the years, it has assisted in transforming the quality of support, treatment and research available to patients and their families. The charity also provides home-from-home accommodation at The Candlelighters Cottage and Eckersley House, a short walk from Leeds Children’s Hospital, which houses families as their child receives inpatient treatment for cancer. We have donated £500 to Driffield Karate Academy, a small East Riding club preparing to defend five championship titles at the 2026 Karate World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. The rural academy trains just a short walk from our Chariot’s Keep development in Wetwang and has built a reputation far beyond its village surroundings. The club aims to be as inclusive as possible, adapting the sport of Karate to a variety of needs. We’ve raised a total of £6000 in donations for our Charity of the Year, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, after a successful Festive Raffle event held in December. We organised the raffle as part of a range of festive activities to raise money for important causes, including a festive jumper day held across our developments and head office.
