Time to Talk Day on 3rd February is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness. At Harron Homes we kicked off the conversation in the construction industry last year by training Mental Health First Aiders in the business and donating to construction industry charity Lighthouse.

Three colleagues – Debbie Peers (PA to Group Managing Director), Rebecca Blake (Marketing Coordinator) and Debbie Goodison (HR Manager) – were trained initially and collaborated to form a Mental Health First Aider Team, meeting regularly to discuss and implement mental health strategies across the business.

Since this team was established in October it has proven immensely valuable for Harron employees, providing them with support and strategies to manage mental health. Its success has led to three more colleagues completing the course, including site managers to ensure support for staff across all aspects of the business.

As the conversation around mental health continues, we have committed to an annual donation of £250 to Lighthouse as a thank you for its invaluable mental health resources.
Debbie Goodison, HR Manager at Harron Homes said “The company is extremely focused on the wellbeing of everyone in the workplace and the challenges of mental health, to enable us to support our work force in every way we can. I am confident our Mental Health Team will open the conversation and reduce the stigma around talking about our mental health, so we can best protect the wellbeing of everyone at Harron.”
