New Homes Week 2019: five reasons to buy a new build home

May 13, 2019

Nine out of 10 people who bought a new home last year said they would buy new again. This is just one of the overwhelmingly positive findings from the 2019 customer satisfaction survey carried out by the Home Builders Federation (HBF), released in the run up to New Homes Week, which takes place from 13th to 17th May.

Every year, HBF, the representative body for private sector home builders in England and Wales, asks new homeowners up and down the country a series of questions to determine just how happy they are with their purchase. The latest results in show that there are more satisfied new home owners than in any previous year since the survey began in 2006. It’s a great reflection on our industry, which has made a big commitment to quality and service in recent years, and hugely reassuring for people considering buying a new home.

As we approach New Homes Week, a special event in our industry which promotes the benefits of buying new, we wanted to take the opportunity to share our top five reasons for choosing a new build home over a second-hand one. So, if you’re currently weighing up your options, here are some pointers which may help you decide:

High-quality build

New build homes must meet strict building requirements and a Harron home is built to the highest standards. Our customers benefit from state-of-the-art kitchens, modern fixtures and fittings, and spacious living areas as standard. HBF estimates that it could cost up to £45,000 to upgrade an older house to the standards of a new build home.

Personalised to suit you

A new home is a blank canvas, ready for you to style exactly as you wish, no need to live with an interior that isn’t to your exact taste. A new Harron home can be personalised to create your perfect home. Need more wardrobe space? No problem. Want to set up a home working space? We can do that too.

Efficient and environmentally friendly

Did you know that energy efficiency standards in new homes are some of the best in the world and CO2 emissions some of the lowest? HBF estimates that a new home is around 65% more energy efficient than an equivalent size Victorian house.

Flexible buying options

There are plenty of options available today to make buying a home more affordable and achievable. Initiatives such as the Help to Buy equity loan scheme and the Help to Buy ISA could help you to get on the property ladder much quicker than you thought.

Builder’s guarantee

New build buyers are far more protected than second-hand buyers as they get the security of a consumer code and warranty. Every Harron home is covered by the Local Authority Building Council’s 10 Year Buildmark Warranty to give you total peace of mind.

This year’s New Homes Week event will focus on interior design and you’ll get the opportunity to hear from HBF ambassador and interior stylist Sophie Robinson who will share how you can get the most from a new build home, whether you’re a first-time buyer, family or downsizer. Head to the HBF website to find out more.
