After marking a decade with the Harron Homes North Midland’s Land team, Kevin Chapman celebrates retiring for the second time!

The Sheffield born and bred 66 year old has been part of the construction industry ever since he discovered his skill with a set-square at school and began his career as a trainee architectural technician at Elden Minns. From there he progressed, and made his first foray into housebuilding in 1981, joining Henry Boot Homes as senior architect. Over the years Kevin worked for various developers, reaching the pinnacle of his career as Land Director at Henry Boots, Taylor Wimpey and Strata Homes.

His advice to any newcomers to the working world is simply follow what you’re good at and enjoy.

“I was lucky to discover I was good at technical drawing back at school, and so looked for opportunities to follow that early on and had a great career because of that.”

Ready to settle into retirement after leaving Strata aged 55, Kevin enjoyed a quiet few months before he was invited to join the Harron land team.

“It was perfect timing really,” Kevin said, “Turned out I wasn’t ready to leave the workforce after all, and this last decade with Harron has been a lovely way to round off my career.
“There are some brilliant people across the construction industry, and I’ll miss working with them all.”

Now Kevin is looking forward to spending some quality time on holiday with his wife, Mandy, and the possibility of getting a German Shepherd to potter around with.

John Booth, Managing Director for Harron Homes North Midlands said “Kevin has been a great asset to the land team for the past decade. We wish Kevin all the best for the future, and hope he thoroughly enjoys a well deserved retirement!”
