armed forcesLeading developer Harron Homes is proud to be playing its part in helping the UK’s servicemen and women secure a home of their own.

In addition to championing the government-backed Armed Forces Help to Buy scheme, Harron Homes has recently launched an additional package of offers to help get military personnel moving.

Under the terms of the Harron Homes Armed Forces Discount, all personnel currently serving in the army, navy or RAF, as well as all veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts, are eligible for financial support when purchasing their home.

The offer is also extended to anyone retiring from the armed forces this year, and will remain open to them for 12 months after they are discharged.

Harron Homes is offering a £500 contribution for every £25,000 on the cost of the property bought, up to a maximum £5,000 contribution. For instance, eligible buyers purchasing a home costing £176,000 would qualify for a contribution of £3,500. This discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or incentive.

An alternative to the Harron Homes Armed Forces Discount, the Armed Forces Help to Buy scheme, is also available on Harron Homes developments. Launched in 2014 and recently extended until 2018, the scheme enables serving personnel to borrow up to 50% of their salary, interest free, to use towards a deposit and other costs such as solicitors’ and estate agents’ fees.

This government scheme is open to all personnel who have completed the prerequisite length of service, have more than six months left to serve at the time they apply, meet certain medical conditions and are purchasing the home for themselves and / or for their immediate family to live in.

Servicemen and women can apply for an Armed Forces Help to Buy loan online, through the Joint Personnel Administration system.

Katie Charlesworth, Sales Director at Harron Homes, said: “We are delighted to be offering support to armed forces personnel searching for a home.

“Historically, there have been low rates of home ownership among those serving in the military, because of the obstacles presented by relocation for assignments and time spent overseas, which have made it challenging to commit to a mortgage in the past. We at Harron Homes are keen to play our part to change that.

“The Armed Forces Help to Buy scheme is a fantastic government-driven incentive to give serving personnel a helping hand and we are delighted to be on board with that, but we wanted to go one step further and ensure no-one was left out.

“Our Harron Homes Armed Forces Discount rewards retirees and veterans for their service, and offers a direct discount as opposed to a loan for buyers who would prefer that option.

“We have a fantastic range of properties at developments across Yorkshire and the East Midlands, a number of which are within easy reach of some of the major bases and installations.

“Our new Hockley Croft development is under three miles from RAF Dishforth and offers an outstanding range of three, four and five bedroom homes. Prices are set to be announced in the near future and potential buyers can register an interest through our website to receive updates.

“Sandlands Park in Hucknall is just a 20 minute commute from Chetwynd Barracks and a number of homes on our second phase are now available.”

“We’d encourage any personnel looking for a home and wondering if they are eligible for support to get in contact with our sales team at a development of their choice, and they will talk you through your options.”
