A football team for teenage girls, which is associated with Sheffield United F.C., has netted brand new playing kits from a leading housebuilder.
Currently providing a stunning range of three and four-bedroom homes at its Rosendale Gardens collection in the nearby village of Wickersley, Harron Homes recently handed £500 over to Sheffield United Community Foundation’s under 18s Whites side.
Playing its home games at St George’s Park on Moss Way, the team was first set up five years ago, and since then it has played in countless tournaments and cup competitions against rival teams across the region and beyond.
“Our main purpose is to get as many girls as possible involved in playing football, whether they have previous experience or are complete newcomers to the sport,” said Darren Utley, Manager of the under 18s squad.
“While we pride ourselves on the sports camps that we offer and our qualified team of coaches, the most important thing for us is that the girls are able to have fun and enjoy playing the game.”
The sponsorship deal has covered the expense of full playing strips for the entire side, featuring the Harron Homes logo printed on them.
“As we receive no funding from Sheffield United, we rely heavily on external donations such as this,” continues Darren.
“Therefore, on behalf of the entire squad, I would like to say a big thank you to Harron.”
Sheffield United Community Foundation offers a variety of programmes that focus on strengthening self-esteem, developing individual skills, promoting health and wellbeing, enhancing academic achievement, and empowering people in the local area.
“As a parent, I couldn’t be prouder of all that the girls have achieved, and was thrilled to be able to make this donation possible,” adds Wayne.
“I am sure that the new kits will come as a big boost to the players as we head into the new season.”
