Couple trade in house for forever family home in Nottinghamshire

Looking to find a family home ideal for raising their eight-month-old daughter, a couple from Ollerton have recently used Harron Homes’ Part Exchange scheme to trade in their existing house for a more spacious family home at the our Bilsthorpe Chase development in Bilsthorpe, near Newark.

Jack Linfitt and Carys Middleton, both aged 30, were seeking a larger house after growing tired of their old home’s limited space, especially following the birth of their daughter, Isla.

“We’re absolutely delighted with our new purchase,” says Jack, a teacher who is originally from Sheffield and who works in the Nottinghamshire area. “We had lived in a two-bedroom house before, but it just wasn’t big enough for our needs as a family once Isla was born, especially given how close both of us are with our extended families.”

To facilitate their move, Jack and Carys used our Part Exchange scheme, which allowed them to sell their old property to us at the same time as they bought their new Harron home.

“Part Exchange was indispensable to the move,” says Jack. “Often when moving house you can be left wondering whether your own property will sell before the new home is ready, leaving you without a place to stay in the interim. Alternatively, you might not sell your old home in time, meaning you’re left with insufficient funds for the purchase of your new home.

“With this Part Exchange scheme, we didn’t have to worry about that: Harron Homes bought our old home in partial exchange for our new one. When you’re upsizing as we were, this kind of scheme makes everything so much easier and more stress-free.”

Jack and Carys opted for the Windsor, a stylish, thoughtfully designed four-bedroom property ideally suited for family living. Boasting light, spacious rooms with an open-plan dining and kitchen area, the Windsor’s layout caught Jack and Carys’ eye immediately.

“I love to cook in the evenings,” says Jack, “and the kitchen island allows me to prepare food while chatting to Carys and Isla, who sit over in a play area we’ve set up in the dining room bay window. We all have busy schedules, but the open-plan layout allows us all to be engaged with one another even when occupied in other tasks like making the evening meal!”

Compared to their smaller old home, the Windsor’s four double bedrooms have proved perfect for Jack and Carys’ family-based lifestyle.

“With four bedrooms, we can host multiple people at once,” adds Carys, who is a residential care worker from Nottingham.

“A really important thing for both of us has been how the space has enabled us to host our grandparents in their own bedroom for a week or more at a time. Our old house lacked the space for this, which meant that our grandparents, when they came to visit us, often had to stay at a nearby hotel or bed and breakfast, therefore having to fork out extra cash, merely to come and see their family, an expense that was doubly annoying given the long drive they’d already taken to visit us.”

Complementing their family-sized home, Jack and Carys looked for a neighbourhood where they could envisage Isla’s childhood and youth.

“Isla is the most important part of our lives, and we want her to grow up in a beautiful area that offers a neighbourly, homely community,” says Carys.

Jack adds: “Bilsthorpe Chase has already proved to be a wonderful and vibrant neighbourhood. We’ve been to the pub with some of our neighbours, and the Harron sales staff are brilliant at helping us all meet one another.

Carys keeps horses in a stable nearby the family’s new home, so she’s able to go and tend to them each day; and of course the beautiful surrounding areas offer plenty of opportunity for weekend jaunts on horseback through gorgeous trails and woodlands.

“We can also go on lovely, long ambling family walks around the area with our two dogs Hettie and Hugo, who simply can’t get enough of the outdoors in this area!” says Carys. “There’s just a lovely vibe here, and it’s certainly a neighbourhood we envisage our daughter growing up in.”

Claire Gibbins, Sales Manager for Harron Homes North Midlands, says, “We couldn’t be happier to have Jack, Carys and Isla at our Bilsthorpe Chase development. The family make a wonderful addition to this fast-growing community, and we’re delighted that they’ve been able to settle in and find a home that’s perfectly tailored to their needs.”

Bilsthorpe Chase offers a range of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes starting from £300,995, and is located at Kirklington Road, Bilsthorpe, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG22 8SH.
