Last month we joined residents and visitors in celebrating one of Wetwang’s best-loved village traditions, the Wetwang Scarecrow Festival, held near our Chariot’s Keep development.
We joined in the fun with a scarecrow of our own at Chariot’s Keep, creating a site manager character to mark the occasion, while also donating towards one of the competition prizes.
The annual festival took place from Thursday 28th May to Sunday 31st May, bringing the East Riding village together for four days of creativity, humour and handmade scarecrows.
This year’s competition invited entries across two categories, “Fairy Tales and other magical stories” and “Other”, with scarecrows displayed throughout the village as part of the popular trail.
Located on Beverley Road, Chariot’s Keep sits close to the heart of Wetwang, giving the housebuilder a front-row place in one of the village’s most characterful annual traditions.
Lucinda Dickens, Sales and Marketing Director for Harron Homes Yorkshire, said, “Wetwang Scarecrow Festival is a brilliant example of the warmth, humour and creativity that make village life so special.
“We were delighted to take part with a scarecrow of our own and to support one of the prizes for this year’s competition. Our scarecrow may not be quite ready to manage a building programme, but he was very well placed to help welcome visitors to Chariot’s Keep. Taking part felt like a fitting way to bring a little Harron Homes character to the trail, while celebrating a tradition that means so much to the local community.
“Chariot’s Keep is becoming part of an established and welcoming village, so it’s important to us that we contribute to the local events and traditions that residents are proud of.”
Inspired by Wetwang’s rich history, including one of Britain’s most significant Middle Iron Age burial site discoveries, Chariot’s Keep blends modern living with local heritage. The development is ideally situated in the East Riding village of Wetwang, offering easy access to both the Yorkshire coastline and nearby cities such as York and Hull.
Chariot’s Keep offers a range of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, including bungalows, in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. Prices start from £240,000 and the sales team can be reached on 01377 310707.
