Local housebuilder, Harron Homes, has shown support for the preservation of hedgehogs after receiving a letter from nine-year-old Molly Adam.

Molly wrote to Harron Homes after she noticed that they were building a new residential development in Snaith. She asked them to help hedgehogs by leaving 13cm gaps in the fences to allow hedgehogs to pass between gardens.

“Hedgehogs are disappearing fast. We have lost about 50% in the last 15 years.” Molly explained in her letter. “Loss of habitat is one of the major problems. I wanted to ask if you could please consider hedgehogs when you plan the gardens of the new houses.”

Molly then went on to explain that she raises money for the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and has so far raised £200. She volunteered to raise money to pay for signs for Harron Homes to put on the fences in their development to explain the gaps.

Harron Homes were so impressed with Molly’s letter that they decided to help her even further.

“Harron Homes are extremely impressed with your fundraising and touched by your efforts to help save the hedgehogs.” Harron Homes replied to Molly. “We would like to match the £200 you have raised for the British Hedgehog Preservation Society for all your hard work and commitment.”

Harron Homes have also promised Molly that they will look into her request to leave gaps in the fences at their new Manor Farm Development.

Molly’s mum said that Molly was very excited to receive the generous donation from Harron Homes; “She was literally dancing around the kitchen. Molly was so thrilled that you even replied never mind offering to donate £200 to the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, which gives her a giant leap towards her £1000 target.”

Harron Homes create luxury properties across Yorkshire and the Midlands. They are well-known for showing support for local community projects and often get involved in fundraising initiatives close to their developments.

The Manor Farm development in Snaith is made up of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes built to the highest specification. These properties have already generated a lot of interest from buyers and are set to be extremely popular.

All the properties are finished to high standards and buyers can put their own stamp on the property by selecting features from the Excellence Range. This allows homeowners to create homes in a style that suits their individual tastes.
