After a difficult year, Killinghall C of E Primary school in Harrogate, which is located close to Harron Homes’ King’s Croft development, has celebrated the end of term with a storytelling event provided by the developer.
Each class at the school, from reception up to Year 6 were treated to a story session with local storyteller Helen Sant. Stories from the day covered tales from different cultures and around the world.
Storyteller Helen has been sharing stories since 2003 and also has a background in creative writing and blogging, with her covering a number of topics from in and around the Yorkshire area and she is currently drafting her first novel.
Helen said: “It was lovely to be able to share stories in person again. The children were really engaged with the stories and asked some really intelligent and interesting questions. It was fantastic to see the children have such a good time and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with each class.”
The event follows a previous collaboration between the housebuilder and school where Harron donated a new bookshelf for the school’s library.
Sarah Bassitt, Headteacher at Killinghall C of E Primary School said: “It has been fantastic to be able to have an in-person event for the children. It has been a hard year for us all, so to see the children all engaged in the stories was great, especially as reading and stories are so important in our school. We would like to thank Harron Homes for providing us with this lovely event, and Helen for telling some wonderful stories.”
