A £66m investment in 286 new homes is planned to benefit Throapham and Dinnington thanks to a proposed development on Oldcotes Road from leading housebuilder Harron Homes.

A planning application is currently being considered by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council following a consultation period with local stakeholders on a site earmarked for development in the Rotherham Local Plan.

Survey works have been carried out over the last year and work has recently started on the archaeological evaluation. As a part of the planning process, over 50 trenches will be dug across the site to assess if there are any finds of historic interest. To ensure public health and safety, a temporary fence has been erected around the works.

Subject to planning, Harron anticipates that construction work will commence during 2021, with the first homes ready for occupation in spring 2022.

The scheme will deliver high quality two, three, four, and five bedroom homes for sale along with 70 affordable homes. As well as landscape infrastructure and open spaces, the development will bring significant investment in local facilities by way of the Section 106 agreement as well as jobs and training opportunities for local people.

John Booth, Managing Director for Harron Homes North Midlands said, “We are committed to delivering high quality properties in places that people want to call home, including here in Throapham and Dinnington.

“This is a sought after location with a rich history, close knit community and plenty of amenities right on the doorstep.

“We look forward to working with local stakeholders to bringing forward a scheme that reflects the needs of the local community as well delivers first class properties with the style and curb appeal for which Harron is renowned.”

The Dinnington area benefits from easy access to urban centres such as Sheffield and Rotherham as well as the M1 and A1.

Harron Homes North Midlands, which is based in Barlborough near Chesterfield, has a number of developments in the region including nearby in Wickersley and Shireoaks.

Harron Homes has been creating new homes in places that people aspire to live in across a wide area of Northern England and the Midlands since 1992.
