As part of Harron Homes’ ongoing commitment to wildlife at its developments, the housebuilder has donated £200 to Retford hedgehog sanctuary, 7th Heaven Hedgehog Rescue.

One of the hedgehogs being looked after by Sue at 7th Heaven Sanctuary, Retford.

The donation will ensure sick and injured hedgehogs in the Retford area are continued to be well cared for by Sue Smith, a carer for the British Hedgehog Preservation Society who runs the rescue from her back garden.

Harron Homes has a selection of stunning four and five bedroom homes for sale at its Retford development, The Brambles, located on London Road.

Sue says, “As a self-funded carer, I’m dependent upon donations to continue operating, and this generous amount from Harron Homes will keep many hedgehogs safe and fed.”

The hedgehog population is declining rapidly in the UK, and they are now officially classified as vulnerable to extinction with less than a million remaining in the UK.

Hedgehogs are particularly vulnerable this time of year as they go into hibernation so the housebuilder has installed hedgehog homes in its showhome gardens for those hedgehogs who decide to stop over and are encouraging others to do the same.

Harron Homes escalated its commitment to British garden wildlife earlier in the year by partnering with Butterfly Conservation. This commenced with the installation of butterfly homes on Harron Homes plots, successfully encouraging beautiful butterflies to flock to the local area in time for the Big Butterfly Count.

These collaborations mean Harron Homes will be following bespoke planting and landscaping guidance designed to encourage butterflies, hedgehogs and other wildlife.

Natalie Griffith, Marketing and Sales Director at Harron Homes North Midlands said, “At Harron Homes, we’re determined to make not only quality homes for people, but create a beneficial environment for all creatures.

“We’re really glad to contribute to a safe space for hedgehogs in need in Retford with our donation to 7th Heaven and hope they continue to make their way back into the wild with Sue’s care.”

Prices at The Brambles currently start from £272,995. Harron also has new homes for sale in Mansfield, Skegby, Shireoaks, Hucknall, and Edwinstowe. For more information visit https://www.harronhomes.com/.
