Buying a new home at one of our Nottinghamshire/ Derbyshire/ South Yorkshire developments can save owners thousands on their energy bills in 2023 according to a new report from the Home Builders Federation (HBF)*.

With energy prices still high, buying new could be a sensible decision when it comes to saving money on your bills. According to the February 2023 HBF report, new home buyers can expect average individual savings on their energy bills to rise from an average £2,600 to £3,100, saving a collective £500 million a year in energy bills, as well as reducing carbon emissions by over 500,000 tonnes.

New homes are known for being more energy efficient than their older counterparts emitting just 1.4 tonnes of carbon a year, less than half of the 3.6 tonnes of an older property. 85% of new homes are awarded an energy efficiency rating of ‘A’ or ‘B’ on the Energy Performance Certificate scale, compared to less than 4% of second-hand properties given the same rating.

A series of innovative designs, water saving appliances and high specifications, better insulation and more efficient heating systems, make new homes generally cheaper to run too.

  • Windows are double glazed keeping the heat in and noise pollution down.
  • High efficiency boilers are installed as standard.
  • Individual thermostatic radiator valves, with features that mean hot water isn’t wasted, help maintain the homes warmth in the most cost-effective way possible. **

Providing energy efficient and cost-effective housing leads to smaller utility bills and leaves more funds to spend on the things that matter most, whether that’s décor for the home, something for the family or simply a well-deserved treat.
