With rapid progress being made at Bilsthorpe Chase, our newest development in Newark, Nottinghamshire, nearby Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy invited Harron Homes to lead an assembly discussing careers in house building. From the wide variety of careers within the construction industry the school was particularly interested in finding out more about architecture.

Harron Homes’ Architectural Technologist Philippa Bargh spoke about her almost decade-long career with the aim of inspiring the children to think about their own futures.

The assembly was delivered to about 100 children in Key Stage 2 where they learnt all about Philippa’s job and what it entails. Philippa spoke about how she got into her role, what’s involved in her day-to-day and the different pathways that led to her current position. The children then participated in a Q&A session and received some colourful goodie bags to take home and enjoy.

Harron is a proud supporter of local communities and enjoys getting involved with the schools close to its developments, arranging events including recent storytelling sessions to celebrate Share a Story Month in May.

Less than a mile away from Harron’s Bilsthorpe Chase development, Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy provides a quality education to local children with a close working relationship with the community and parents to create an active and nurturing relationship between school and families.

With excellent local schools, and a selection of stunning homes thoughtfully designed for modern family life, the development is perfect for those starting or growing their family. It’s also ideally placed for commuters with easy access to neighbouring cities, Mansfield, Nottingham, Lincoln and Sheffield.

Laura Garrard, Teacher at Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy, said: “It was wonderful to have Ms Bargh visit us, we are very grateful to her for taking the time to prepare the assembly and talk to the children.  We aim to provide a supportive environment for our students to develop and discover their own aspirations. This assembly was a great way to engage the children in thinking about their futures. They learnt a lot and were thrilled to receive their fun goodie bags.”

Philippa added: “It was a pleasure to do this assembly. I was grateful for the opportunity to present to the pupils and I hope I offered them an interesting insight into my role in the Harron Homes Technical Team. My goal was to introduce the idea of a career in architecture but moreover encourage the pupils to have aspirational goals to seek a career that they will enjoy doing, whatever that may be.”

Bilsthorpe Chase offers a range of two-to-five-bedroom homes in the countryside town of Bilsthorpe. While the marketing suite is under construction, the sales team can be found at neighbouring development Thoresby Vale which is located just six miles north at Ollerton Road, Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire, NG21 9PS.  For more information visit: https://www.harronhomes.com/find-a-home/nottinghamshire/bilsthorpe-chase/.
