Jacqui Hamilton, 25, and Tony Cockerill, 30, have bought their dream home with Harron Homes. Upsizing to a beautiful four-bedroom Birkwith at Shipley Lakeside near Heanor, Derbyshire, they discovered the perfect space to entertain and plan for the future.
Technical Pre-Sales Engineer Tony previously owned a two bedroom home, near Ilkeston, which proved too small for their needs after Jacqui moved in with him over a year ago.
Jacqui, a Financial Capability and Student Success officer, said, “We found our old home lacked the space we needed with no dining room and a very small kitchen. We really couldn’t fit more than one person in there at a time so didn’t have space to entertain.”
Buying together for the first time since they got together four years ago, the pair couldn’t wait for a place of their own where they would have a larger kitchen, a dining area and space for their family to grow.
Jacqui continued, “We were living on top of each other which only got worse after we adopted Kenny, our dog two years ago. He’s a mystery combination of breeds so we had no idea he’d get this big! We’re also thinking ahead to when we’ll have children, and wanted enough space in a home they could grow up in.”
Harron’s thoughtful layouts stood out for Tony, “The Birkwith has plenty of space with the open layout. We recently hosted a BBQ when the weather was good and the flow of the house was great! We had the French doors open to the garden and people moved in and out of the house with ease. In the evening, we were all able to move inside to the kitchen to socialise and listen to music with one another.
“The kitchen layout makes our life so much easier as we now have space to do things together such as cooking or we can sit at the dining table to talk. It works really well when you have a dog that’s large; Kenny has lots of space to roam freely.”
As well as enjoying the extra space, the couple were enamoured with the idea of a quality home in a beautiful location.
Tony said, “We knew others moving into the Shipley area and were keen to discover what Harron Homes had to offer. It’s great how easily we can go to Derby or Nottingham. We are close to family and friends as well as the main motorways in a new home that is fresh and untouched by anybody else.”
