To commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee, we buried time capsules at two of our Yorkshire developments, The Hawthornes, situated in the village of Carlton, and Bishop’s Glade, located in Ripon.

The time capsule burial commemorates this year’s Jubilee Bank Holiday, when the nation came together to celebrate the Queen’s 70th year as reigning monarch.

An array of Harron Homes’ memorabilia was included in the time capsule, including the original brochures accompanying the launch of the development and various assorted items created for different community events Harron Homes have been engaged with.

In addition, residents were invited to contribute to the capsule, with several donating drawings created by their children, depicting their favourite room in their new home, or a favourite day spent in the garden or on a walk in the trails that surround the development. Residents also adding photographs of special or memorable occasions spent in their new Harron home, such as a family brunch or a dinner party.

The time capsules are to be excavated in 70 years’ time, when another generation of Harron Homes residents will be able to look back on the year 2022 and the memories and souvenirs contained in the capsule itself.

There are a great mix of memories locked away in the time capsules; the knowledge that future residents will one day discover them creates a really strong sense of continuity, one that we see as crucially key to our communities.
