As this year’s nationwide Big Butterfly Count starts this week (Friday 17th July), we’ve joined forces with Butterfly Conservation to demonstrate its commitment to the promotion of wildlife at its developments.

Working together with Butterfly Conservation will mean that our new developments will follow bespoke planting and landscaping guidance designed to encourage butterflies and other wildlife.

As well as the corporate commitment, we will be encouraging customers and our social media followers to take part in the Big Butterfly Count, with dedicated resources available including a photography competition and a colouring activity.

Furthermore, we’ve developed some guidance for homeowners on how they, too, can tempt beautiful butterflies to visit their gardens this summer. From planting and lawn maintenance to leaving tasty, high nectar treats out – everyone with access to a green space can enjoy the Big Butterfly Count this summer.

To help Harron homeowners create butterfly-friendly spaces, all Harron Homes customers who complete on their new home by the end of the year will be gifted an elegant butterfly house to hang in their new garden. Recipients will be able to check the advice on the Harron Homes website to make the most of their gift and attract beautiful butterflies to their homes!

If you would like to take part in the Big Butterfly Count, simply head to Big Butterfly Count online or download the app to get started. Remember to tag us in your pictures, using the Instagram handle @harronhomes and the hashtag #HarronsBloominButterflies as well as the official #ButterflyCount hashtag.

We also have some fabulous butterfly colouring in sheets to download from the website.
