birkwithGLEBE Junior School in South Normanton are runners up in a best dressed Christmas tree competition.

The school claimed a £250 prize after Year 3 pupils decorated the tree which has been donated by local housebuilder Harron Homes.

Harron donated 6ft to 10ft Christmas trees to primary schools near its developments across Derbyshire and Yorkshire and invited them to submit a photo of their tree in its full glory.

Katie Charlesworth, Sales and Marketing Director for Harron Homes said, “We are always keen to get involved with the communities around our new homes developments and with the help of our landscapers we were able to donate eight impressive trees to local schools.

“We thoroughly enjoyed judging the decorations as everyone had gone to considerable effort to make their tree look as festive as possible.  We are delighted to name Glebe Junior School as runners up.”

Jane Seymour, Head Teacher said, “It was wonderful to receive the donation of a Christmas tree and our Year 3 children had a great time making decorations and hanging them. It has brightened up the front of our school on wet mornings. We will be spending our winnings on an extra-curricular visitor, a Viking man, in the New Year. “
