The August bank holiday is fast approaching. How do you plan to spend yours? Hopefully you’ll be outside in the garden having a BBQ with friends and family. Maybe you’re heading off on a mini break. Or perhaps you’re not intending to relax at all and you’ve got plenty of jobs around the house to be getting on with. If you’re planning on tackling some DIY projects, you’re not alone.
Research by Insurer Policy Expert revealed that over 40% of UK residents plan to do some DIY work on their homes over the bank holiday weekend. That’s almost 12 million households. Many said they do DIY because they’re trying to save money and almost half of respondents said they love tinkering around their homes. But a third confess they’ve started a DIY job and never finished it. Even more worryingly, thousands risk injuring themselves and ending up in hospital.
Data for England shows there were 4,764 admissions to NHS hospitals in 2017/18 for injuries from drills and other power tools. A further 6,372 admissions were for people ending up in hospital after tumbling from a ladder. And if you’re a man, statistics show you’re far more likely to suffer an injury than a woman.
So, before you embark on your next DIY project, think twice. Is it safe, is it the best use of your time, or are you better off calling in the professionals?
At Harron Homes, we have an even better idea. If you find yourself constantly doing jobs around the house, working your way through an endless to-do list, have you considered owning a brand new home instead? Just think, a blank canvas ready for you to move into that you can personalize exactly how you want; a home that requires very little maintenance with pristine fixtures and fittings that you’ve chosen yourself and work exactly how they should. And you don’t have to live with the previous occupant’s decorating tastes or fix their DIY disasters.
We will go the extra mile to make you move as smooth as possible, and the availability of Part Exchange cuts the stress and hassle out of selling your existing property. Meanwhile, our tailored incentive packages, which personally provide a helping hand, mean you could be in your new home sooner than you think.
Now we’ll ask the question once more. How are you intending to spend this upcoming bank holiday weekend? Perhaps it’s time to sit back, relax, enjoy the sunshine and choose your brand new home. And you’ll be pleased to know the weather forecast is brilliant!
