Budding young players at the Batley rugby team unveiled a professional new blue and white rugby kit when they faced their rivals, Upton ARLFC.

A generous donation from Harron Homes made the goal for a new kit a reality and the boys looked and played the part. There were celebrations all round as the team won their match 22 – 12 which secured them an unbeatable season so far.

Mark Parsons, Manager and Coach for the Under 13 squad, commented, “ The new kit looks fantastic and we’d like to thank Harron Homes for their support as it’s a great reward for the team as they’ve had an excellent season so far which we hope to continue.

“It was a difficult match for both teams as the muddy conditions made the ground extremely hard for players to get a footing and keep hold of the ball, but the boys executed an outstanding defence and stood fast holding out to a strong second half push from Upton.”

The team’s new kit and on-going success was especially important to the Yorkshire-based housebuilder as Harron Homes’ Part Exchange Manager, Gary Roberts has a son in the team.

Tommy, who plays the position of Hooker for the under 13 squad has, like many of the players, been playing for the Batley Boys ARLFC  for more than five years after starting in the Under 9s group.

Gary Roberts commented, “The players really looked the part in their new strips and we’re thrilled to have been able to support the team.”
