Local builder helps pupils Children at a Huddersfield school have been presented with high-visibility waistcoats by local housebuilder Harron Homes.

The bright yellow reflective vests will help keep youngsters from Lowerhouses CE (VC) Junior, Infant & Early Years School safe on school trips.

The housebuilder has given 194 vests to the school, one for every pupil, and Carol Vernon, Acting Head Teacher, said: “This donation from Harron Homes is very generous and very much appreciated.

“The jackets will help make sure all of our children remain safe and secure when out on school trips.

“We are often very busy with trips for all year groups, as they enhance the children’s learning further. Their safety when visiting other settings is essential and these jackets will ensure they remain clearly visible at all times”.

Katie Charlesworth, Sales Director for Harron Homes, said: “We want to support the communities where we are building. Our developments are located close to schools and as families move in, it makes sense to help out where we can.   We were approached by Lowerhouses School and were delighted to help out.

“In these dark, winter months it’s more difficult for motorists to see pedestrians and we hope the waistcoats will help to keep the children safe when they are out of school.”
