FARSLEY Springbank Primary School in Farsley near Leeds will be able to buy a stack of new books for its library after it won £500 in a best dressed Christmas tree competition.

The school beat off seven other schools to claim the prize which has been funded by local housebuilder Harron Homes.

Harron donated 6ft to 10ft Christmas trees to primary schools near its developments across Yorkshire and Derbyshire and invited them to submit a photo of their tree in its full glory.

Katie Charlesworth, Sales and Marketing Director for Harron Homes said, “We are always keen to get involved with the communities around our new homes developments and with the help of our landscapers we were able to donate eight impressive trees to local schools.

“We thoroughly enjoyed judging the decorations as everyone had gone to considerable effort to make their tree look as festive as possible.  We are delighted to name Farsley Springbank Primary School as the winner and were particularly impressed their handmade decorations.”

Headteacher at Farsley Springbank Primary School, Sharon Percival said “We were delighted to learn we had won the Christmas tree competition. Our reception children loved making all the decorations for the tree, particularly the hand-print Santas and the paper chains. We are now looking forward to buying lots of new books with our prize money. Thank you Harron Homes!”
