A Leeds-based housebuilder has put its support behind a local youth football team, kitting them out with new waterproof training jackets ahead of the start of their new season.
Harron Homes came to the help of Glasshoughton Under-9s after responding to a call from Lee Badley, Operations Manager at contractor A&G Signs and father to Glasshoughton player Joe, 8.
The team, whose training ground at the Glasshoughton Centre for Healthy Living is less than a mile from Harron’s Ravenswood Fold development, were looking for a sponsor to provide new outdoor wear.
Lee explained; “I was phoning around regarding the sponsorship and happened to make a call to Harron Homes. We’ve always had a good relationship with Harron so I thought I’d throw the question in about sponsorship, and they couldn’t have been more helpful.
“Football is a winter sport, the team trains and plays outside on grass pitches. It’s hard enough as a parent standing on the sidelines wrapped up in five layers at times, so it was important for us that the kids have some sort of matching waterproof wear they could all turn up in, particularly for the substitutes. We’re already playing friendly games and preparing for the new season so it’s great to now have the jackets in place.”
