Santa’s sleigh a helping handSanta was handing out early presents to youngsters in South Normanton this week, thanks to help from Harron Homes.

The housebuilder donated £500 towards festivities in the village, which included a Santa parade and Christmas fair.

Cllr Paul Barnes, one of the organisers from the South Normanton Gala Crew, said: “The money will go towards the running of the Santa parade, where we go around the village with Father Christmas on his sleigh, giving out presents and getting the children ready for the big day.

“It’s a big event for us, as it usually takes three days to get round because it’s so popular. Last year so many people wanted to see it they jammed our Facebook account tracking Santa’s progress!”

He added: “We’re very grateful to Harron for their kind donation. It’s absolutely fantastic.”

The cash also helped to pay for children’s entertainment at the village’s recent Christmas fair.

“There was a circus workshop with fire eating, a dance display and a puppet show for the youngsters,” said Cllr Barnes. “The fair was a tremendous success – there must have been 1,000 people there.”

Harron is building a development of new homes at Nightingale Fold in South Normanton.

Katie Charlesworth, Sales Director, said: “Christmas is all about getting together and we’re delighted to support festivities in the local community. We hope the children had a terrific time.”
