Luxury property developer Harron Homes has raised an impressive total of £220.41 for Macmillan Cancer Support, after taking part in its annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

In addition to hosting a cake sale at its North Midlands office in Barlborough and Yorkshire office in Leeds, the homebuilder also offered visitors to its developments in Barnsley, Mapplewell, Rossington, Crich, Matlock and Hucknall the chance to tuck into a slice of cake and a cuppa, in exchange for a small donation.

The funds were topped up by a charity raffle. Prizes including bottle of champagne and boxes of chocolates were on offer to entrants across the company’s developments in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

Staff at the Barlborough office also turned detective to add to the cash total, taking on a ‘guess the flavour of the doughnut’ challenge. A donation of £1 was made for each entry and Julie Collins correctly guessed the mystery filling, which was custard.

At the Yorkshire office, staff filled four filing cabinet tops with a variety of cakes, many of which were home baked. They also enjoyed six different filter coffees and cafetieres alongside an array of fruity teas.

Customer Service Co-ordinator for Harron Homes Yorkshire, Louise Bignell, explained: “We were already celebrating a colleague’s birthday on the same day, so we thought that as we would already be having some cake, we may as well take the opportunity to raise some money for MacMillan at the same time.”

The funds raised by the developer will help Macmillan, one of the UK’s largest cancer support charities, to provide medical, emotional, practical and financial guidance to cancer sufferers in the region and across the country.

Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning made its first appearance in 1990 and has raised more than £165.5 million over the course of almost three decades.

Alison Taylor Shaw, Sales Director Designate for Harron Homes North Midlands, said: “It was a pleasure to take part in raising funds for Macmillan, a cause which is dear to a number of our staff and home buyers. It was a fun occasion with competitions and challenges, and we all enjoyed tucking into our morning coffee and cake that little bit more, knowing that we were supporting Macmillan.

“We were thrilled to welcome a number of visitors to our developments on the day of the fundraiser, who were happy to take part and support us with our efforts.

“That invitation wasn’t just extended for the Coffee Morning, however – our staff are always keen to chat to prospective home buyers and offer them advice on their move, whether over a cuppa in our on-site marketing suites or on a tour around one of our stylish show homes.”

Harron Homes builds exceptional luxury properties in hand-picked locations across the North Midlands and Yorkshire, offering buyers the very best of modern living.
