Part Exchange helps young Doncaster couple trade first home for forever home - Harron Homes

After making their first ever home purchase at one of our developments, a young couple has upsized to another, using Part Exchange to find their forever home at our De Maulay Manor development in New Rossington.

Natalie and Nathan Brady, along with their dog Mabel, became first-time buyers when they purchased a three-bedroom home at our Wyndthorpe Chase development in September 2023. Looking to upsize for the next stage of their life, the couple used Part Exchange to move into a four-bedroom home at De Maulay Manor.

Their first Harron home had been recommended by close friends living at The Grange in Shireoaks, who encouraged Natalie and Nathan to consider Harron Homes after having a positive experience of their own. In fact, the couple were so happy with the recommendation, that they in turn recommended Harron to Natalie’s parents, who have moved to De Maulay Manor too.

Natalie said, “The Brackley was our first home together and exactly what we needed at that stage of our lives. It helped us get onto the property ladder, but when we started thinking further ahead, we knew our next move needed to give us more space for the long term.”

Although they visited developments from a range of housebuilders across South Yorkshire, the couple kept returning to Harron Homes.

The move has also improved the couple’s day-to-day routine. Natalie, who was born and raised in Doncaster, works at a local school, while De Maulay Manor is better placed for Nathan’s commute to Sheffield. Nathan said, “The location works much better for both of us. We have the village and useful amenities close by, but we can also step outside and take Mabel on a proper walk. There’s a new green area opening up by our cul-de-sac too, so it feels like we have a good balance between convenience and open space.”

Harworth pupils explore housebuilding with Harron Homes - Harron Homes

Pupils from St Patrick’s Primary School in Harworth recently gained a hands-on introduction to housebuilding during an educational visit to our Simpson Park development in Harworth and Bircotes, Doncaster.

Organised by Harworth Group, which is leading the wider regeneration of the Simpson Park site, the visit gave pupils the opportunity to explore different aspects of creating a new community through a series of activities hosted by Harron Homes and Vistry Homes.

At our Simpson Park development, the children took part in a health and safety session led by our Site Manager Scott Henderson. The session introduced some of the precautions used to protect workers and visitors on a construction site, while explaining why active building sites must never be treated as playgrounds.

The pupils were then welcomed into one of our showhomes for a specially designed treasure hunt led by Senior Marketing Executive Eva Poynor and Marketing assistant Olivia Marlow. As they searched for clues around the property, the children learned more about the different rooms, features and finishing touches involved in turning a newly built property into a home.

Three of our site managers have been recognised among the best in UK housebuilding after each winning an NHBC Pride in the Job 2026 Quality Award.

Paul Jezusek at De Maulay Manor in New Rossington, Steve Jones at Nevison’s Fold in Barnsley, and Wayne Schofield at Sandlands Park in Hucknall, have all received the award in recognition of the consistent standards being delivered across their developments.

For Paul Jezusek, the award marks his third consecutive Pride in the Job Quality Award, following a coveted Seal of Excellence in 2025.

Steve Jones previously received the award in 2016 before joining Harron in 2025, and Wayne is celebrating his first Pride in the Job win.

Widely considered the ‘Oscars’ of the house-building industry, Pride in the Job celebrates site managers’ dedication to raising standards, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence. Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Thousands of inspections have taken place to determine the 450 winners from a field of 7,500 sites, representing the top 6% of UK site managers.

Wayne Schofield, who lives in Sheffield, works at our Sandlands Park development in Hucknall. He previously worked for Harron Homes in 2018 before returning in 2023 as Site Manager at Sandlands Park, where he’s continued to demonstrate exceptional site standards.

Wayne said, “It’s a fantastic feeling to receive my first Pride in the Job award. The recognition of all the hard work that I’ve put into my role and Harron Homes really means the world to me.

Paul, 49, from Sheffield, started in the construction industry straight out of school and worked his way up from apprentice joiner to site manager. He joined Harron Homes seven years ago and was promoted to site manager after just two and a half years.

His third consecutive Pride in the Job Quality Award win underlines the consistent high standards he sets at De Maulay Manor and the strength of the team he leads.

Steve, who is originally from Barnsley and now lives in Liversedge, joined the team at Harron in May 2025. He previously won a NHBC Pride in the Job award in 2016. “I’m completely over-the-moon to have won this award,” said Steve, “I put my all into this role, and it makes all the hard work worth it”.

Harron Homes scarecrow joins Wetwang festival fun - Harron Homes

Last month we joined residents and visitors in celebrating one of Wetwang’s best-loved village traditions, the Wetwang Scarecrow Festival, held near our Chariot’s Keep development.

We joined in the fun with a scarecrow of our own at Chariot’s Keep, creating a site manager character to mark the occasion, while also donating towards one of the competition prizes.

The annual festival took place from Thursday 28th May to Sunday 31st May, bringing the East Riding village together for four days of creativity, humour and handmade scarecrows.

This year’s competition invited entries across two categories, “Fairy Tales and other magical stories” and “Other”, with scarecrows displayed throughout the village as part of the popular trail.

Located on Beverley Road, Chariot’s Keep sits close to the heart of Wetwang, giving the housebuilder a front-row place in one of the village’s most characterful annual traditions.

Harron Homes team helps raise more than £1,600 for Phoenix Heroes - Harron Homes

A team supported by Harron Homes North Midlands has helped raise more than £1,600 for veterans’ charity Phoenix Heroes CIC, after accompanying amputee strongman Darren Greenfield on a courageous ascent of Ben Nevis.

The former World’s Strongest Disabled Man Darren completed Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK at 1,345 metres. He was supported by former Special Forces soldier and television personality Billy Billingham, three-time World Champion angler Rob Hughes, PenPod Overland Trailers owner Ian Pennington, and our own Operations Engineer Daniel Hoole.

The ascent formed part of a wider Three Peaks challenge launched to raise funds and awareness for Phoenix Heroes CIC, our Charity of the Year. Following the completion of Ben Nevis, the team made the responsible decision not to continue the remaining peaks due to the risk of injury.

The effort has so far raised £1,607 for Phoenix Heroes CIC, with further fundraising activity still ongoing through Harron Homes and Phoenix Heroes. The team will be attempting the Guinness World Record attempt for the fastest Three Peaks ascent by a full amputee in due course.

Phoenix Heroes CIC supports veterans affected by PTSD and other life challenges, offering access to therapy, housing support, employment opportunities and long-term wellbeing services. The charity has now supported more than 1,000 veterans.

We also sponsored the team’s challenge T-shirts, helping to raise visibility for the campaign throughout the challenge weekend.

Earlier this year, we named Phoenix Heroes CIC as our Charity of the Year for 2026, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the armed forces community.

A Harron Homes employee is supporting a Guinness World Record attempt for the fastest Three Peaks completion by an amputee. Funds raised are being donated to Phoenix Heroes CIC, our Charity of the Year.

Daniel Hoole, Operations Engineer at Harron Homes North Midlands, will take part in the challenge from 23rd to 25th May this year. Dan will be part of a team that will together support former World’s Strongest Disabled Man Darren Greenfield, who is attempting to set the record of fastest Three Peaks time for an amputee, completing the challenge in just three days.

Other well-known figures making up the support team include former Special Forces soldier and television personality Billy Billingham, as well as three-time World Champion angler Rob Hughes.

The funds raised for the challenge will go towards Phoenix Heroes CIC, a veterans’ charity supporting those affected by PTSD through access to therapy, housing, employment support and long-term recovery services. Daniel, Darren, Billy, and Rob are all ambassadors for the charity.

We have supported the effort by sponsoring the team’s challenge T-shirts, helping to raise visibility for the fundraising campaign throughout the Three Peaks Challenge.

Earlier this year, we named Phoenix Heroes CIC as its Charity of the Year for 2026, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the armed forces community.
