May has to be one of the best months of the year – we get two Bank Holidays, the weather is warmer, and the nights are lighter… plus this year we have a Royal Wedding to look forward to!

So, with that in mind, we’ve put together some tips to throw the perfect Garden Party in celebration of The Royal Wedding:

1)     Grab the essentials

An outdoor table and seating is essential – no one wants to be on their feet all day! Grab the dusty deck chairs out of the garage, pop some picnic rugs on the grass or grab a bench. Bean bags are also a nice way to create a cosy atmosphere.

2)     Prepare for the weather

Unfortunately, the British weather is very unpredictable and there is no guarantee of a nice sunny day! In case of rain, a gazebo is the best option, but there are loads of cheap pop-up garden tents that are perfect for a casual get together.

3)     Keep your guests warm

Grab a load of blankets or go upmarket and invest in a chiminea or a patio heater!

4)     Lights

Good lighting creates the right atmosphere and ambiance. Fairy lights, lanterns and tea lights are a great way to create a cosy outdoor space. Why not weave them through a home-made hanging basket, like one of those we recectly helped our guests make?

5)     Music

Make sure you’ve got the perfect garden party soundtrack – summer pop hits and chilled out jazz are party pleasers.

6)     Pick a theme

Why not go Royal themed in honour of the Royal Wedding?

7)     Food menu

Barbeque food is great for a garden party – keep the mess outside and enjoy the party whilst you cook! Sausages and burgers are essential, and skewers are a great way to keep it veggie. Whip up a big salad with some potatoes for a side and you’re all set!

8)     Drinks

A garden party isn’t a party without a summer cocktail – Pimms or Sangria are perfect to please the crowd. Add prosecco, wine and beer to guarantee a variety of choices to tick all the boxes!
